Australia Awards in Papua New Guinea is seeking to appoint an Australia Awards Scholarships Manager.

Australia Awards in Papua New Guinea is designed to promote knowledge, leadership and enduring ties between Australia and PNG. It aims to build knowledge and skills to address PNG’s economic and development challenges through international scholarships to Australia and scholarships in PNG. It also seeks to foster people-to-people links between Australia and PNG.

The position

The Australia Awards Scholarships Manager leads and manages the delivery of long-term scholarships to Australia and reports to the Facility Director.
This involves leading and managing the Australia Awards Scholarship activities across all phases of the scholarship cycle, including promotions, applications and selections, pre-departure preparation, on-award enrichment, monitoring and support, and reintegration. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Australia Awards Manager fosters continuous improvement and innovation, ensures quality delivery, and maximises possible program outcomes for AAPNG.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will have degree qualification in a related field such as education, human resource development, international development or business administration. We are seeking a candidate with substantial experience at a senior level in the planning and management in international education or training, such as university administration, student recruitment, admissions, and/or scholarship management.
To be successful in this role, you will have highly developed leadership and project management skills including work planning, team/personnel management, financial and procurement management. The ideal candidate will have data management and analysis experience and sound reporting, monitoring and evaluation abilities in addition to excellent analytical, research, writing and communication skills in English language. Previous experience or good understanding of Australia Awards is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have the ability and enthusiasm to manage change and drive a ‘can-do’ team culture. The ability to assess and work sensitively in a cross-cultural multi-stakeholder context is also required.
