NCSL, PNG’s largest and progressive Savings & Loan Society, is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons to join its Board as an Independent Director inline with recent changes to the Savings&Loan legislation. The role of the independent Board Director is to represent, protect and advance the society’s interests by ensuring NCSL is governed in a sound and prudent manner in the best interests of NCSL and all its members.

The successful applicant will joint he NCSL Board who are collectively responsible for

• ProvidingthestrategicdirectionforNCSL,
• AppointingandassessingtheGeneralManager,
• MonitoringtheoperationalandfinancialperformanceoftheSociety,
• Providing oversight to the Society’s occupational health and safety policies andstandards,
• Identifying the principal risks faced by the Society and taking reasonable steps designed to ensure that appropriate internal controls and monitoring systems are in place to manage and, to the extent possible, reduce the impact of these risks,
• Approving the Society’s budgets and business plans and monitoring the management of the Society’s capital, including the progress of any major capital expenditures, acquisitions, investments ordivestments,
• Establishing procedures to ensure financial results are appropriately and accurately reported on a timely basis in accordance with all legal and regulatoryrequirements,
• Adopting appropriate procedures to ensure compliance with all laws, governmental regulations and accounting standards,and
• Approving, and reviewing from time to time, the Society’s internal compliance procedures, including any codes of conduct and taking all reasonable steps to ensure that the business of the Society is conducted in an open and ethical manner.

Interested applicants should possess essential Qualifications, Technical Skills & Experience in the following areas

• Banking andFinance
• Audit and RiskManagement
• Legal
• InformationandCommunicationTechnology(ICT)
• Insurance

In addition, applicants must

• Meet the Fit & Proper BPNG clearance criteria
• Be a professional member of the PNG Institute of Directors
• Have a good understanding of the PNG economy
• Be financially literate
• Have excellent communications skills
• Have minimum 5years’ board experience
