EMTV is PNG’s premier television station and is owned 100 per cent by Telikom PNG.

To respond to both continued growth and demand for sophisticated media communication in an increasingly competitive environment, EMTV is now inviting exceptional and highly motivated candidates to apply for the role of Chief Executive Officer.

The Chief Executive Officer is based in Port Moresby, and reports directly to the KTHL Board & Managing Director and is accountable for determining, establishing and articulating EMTV’s strategic direction through its vision and mission by providing high quality and trusted journalism, products and services that enrich the communities EMTV serves – its audience, commercial partners, employees and investors.

The successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Provide strategic direction to the Board and the Executive Management team in developing and implementing the annual operating plan, the capital budget plan and ensuring effective delivery of the long-term strategy
• Continuous improvement in the quality and value of the products and services provided by the company
• Strives to ensure that the company achieves and maintains a satisfactory competitive position with in its industry
• Strives to foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and encourages individual integrity
• Strives to maintain a position and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels
• Sponsor all change process

To meet the challenge and be effective in the above role, you must possess and be able to demonstrate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a recognised tertiary institution; preferably Journalism, Business, Commerce or Economics
• Master’s in Business Administration from a reputable national/international institute is highly desirable
• Over 10 years of experience in the industry or business (preferably senior management experience in a content-led company (or division)
• Acquired understanding in sales, operations, financial and regulation, and governance knowledge
• Working knowledge in a digital media environment, and demonstrated skill in leveraging new technologies and media platforms to engage
• Successfully operated in an environment that requires exceptional communication skills, both listening and speaking, to a diverse range of constituents
• Demonstrate a real understanding of the complexities of the PNG market (for example, cultural, social and political dimensions)
• Strong negotiation skills and able to easily build rapport and networks across functional boundaries and external organisations, dimensions
• Strategically competent having a proven track record of meeting objectives, leading and reporting at board level, organisations, dimensions
• Superb analytical nature that relies on fact based decision making, level, organisations, dimensions
