Chief Financial Officer

Welcome,

Air Niugini Limited, the State-Owned National Airline of Papua New Guinea, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer.

Air Niugini has recently celebrated 45 years of providing air services to the people of Papua New Guinea, and operates a fleet of 25 aircraft and operates to more than 20 destinations within PNG and operated to 12 international destinations.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors, and an integral part of the executive leadership group, the role will be responsible for:

  1. All financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations, including accounting, treasury, transactional services, IT and property
  2. Providing strategic leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting
  3. The development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results
  4. Reporting to the CEO, Board the Shareholder, Kumul Consolidated Holdings, and Government
  5. Staff management and continuous development of teams, processes and systems

The person in this role also is a member of the leadership team, contributing and working collaboratively with all elements of day-to-day airline operations, including employee and customer relations, safety, revenue management, scheduling, strategic alliances, sales, brand management, product development and customer service delivery.

Experience

  1. CPA or CA
  2. Prior significant experience in a senior financial role (probably as a CFO or FC) in an international airline (or significantly sized domestic airline)
  3. Over 15 years of experience leading and managing financial responsibilities of a large company
  4. Experience in strategic planning and execution
  5. Knowledge of automated airline financial and accounting reporting systems, including preferably reservation systems
  6. Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections suitable for board consumption
  7. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint; web-based and email programs
  8. Excellent communication skills verbally, in writing, and electronically, including working with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  9. Have strong leadership and organizational skills
  10. Ideally have existing Project Management skills
  11. Ideally have demonstrated experience in evaluating and applying emerging technologies to transform the airline and deliver sustainable competitive advantage
  12. Ideally have skills directly or indirectly in working with data analytics to deliver improved financial outcomes and customer satisfaction
