The Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority has a vacancy for a talented individual to join their team as Chief Executive Officer.

Milne Provincial Health Authority (MBPHA) was established under the Provincial Health Act 2007 (PHAA) in 2009 and it has been responsible for the provision of health service in the province. A unique opportunity in Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority health care leadership is now available with the vacant position of Chief Executive Officer of Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority (MBPHA), to be filled effectively by March 2020 by a proven mature leader. Given PHA’s province-wide responsibility and the complex nature of the organization, the role of CEO is not just for anyone. It will take an extraordinary individual who understands service delivery in a complex and specialized health-care environment, in which alignment of vision is critical, driving innovation and evidence-based change is key and where fiscal responsibility and shared values are instilled throughout the organization. The CEO will lead the way in establishing priorities and provide seasoned guidance around decision making with the partner agencies, other service providers, programs and divisions under the MBPHA umbrella, and can inspire, motivate, influence with a compassionate but decisive leadership style.

The Chief Executive Officer is a Public Service executive level position under the Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority Board of governance. The CEO reports to the Milne Bay Provincial Health Authority Board of Governance and is truly accountable for the fundamental leadership of the organization as a whole. The CEO ensures that the planning, implementation and evaluation of MBPHA’s services meet the health needs of the population of Milne Bay Province, while at the same time mirrors the health priorities of the Ministry of Health.

Job requirements

The successful incumbent must truly embody the essence of leadership, and foster a collaborative spirit of engagement amongst 900 plus employees across MBPHA. With a passion and drive to deliver excellence in Public Health services and clinical patient care, the appointed leader will possess the foresight, intellectual depth, and courage to lead the organization to beyond where it has been before. The CEO will possess the strength of character that commands trust and respect from professional colleagues, business leaders, and private citizens, and provides inspiration to those following their leadership. A formal qualification must possess a Master’s Degree in recognise health discipline with related Public health administration is an advantage.
