Papua New Guinea’s Government is seeking a highly qualified and experienced executive to take the role of Commissioner General – Internal Revenue Commission.

The Government is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Executive to take the role of Commissioner General – Internal Revenue Commission which has the general responsibility to provide Planning, Leadership and Strategic direction to the Commission to achieve its Corporate Plan in line with the Government Goals and initiatives.

The Commissioner General is responsible for administration, assessment and collection of taxes under the tax laws on behalf of the state. The Commissioner General is also responsible to the minister for the provision of annual reports as required under the IRC Act and the revenue laws and such other reports relating to revenue or the operations of the Internal Revenue Commission as required.

Job requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum person specifications and possess a Higher Academic qualification, University Degree and Post Graduate qualifications preferably in Economics, Accountancy, Law or Business MBA preferred.

The applicant must have a high level of financial and general management skills with at least a minimum of 10 years’ experience at a senior management level in Internal Revenue Commission or similar organizations with sound understanding of Government Policies, and other relevant acts applicable to IRC such as Public Finance Management Act 1995 (as amended)

Preference will be given to persons who are working or who have worked in the National Public Service and are knowledgeable about the operations of the Internal Revenue Commission and the role of the Commissioner General. The applicant must be well versed with the Government’s Ethics & Values Based Executive Management and Leadership Capability Framework and the Gender Equity & Social Inclusion Policy
