Judicial and Legal Services Commission is accepting expression of interest from suitably qualified people for the Deputy Chief Magistrate (Judicial and Administration) position.

Judicial and Legal Services Commission (JLSC) invites suitably qualified persons to apply to be considered for appointment as Deputy Chief Magistrate (Judicial and Administration). This position is based in Port Moresby.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate District Court circuits.
• Coordinate reviews of practices and procedures under laws the District Court administers.
• Coordinate the Magistrates Postings/Placement Program.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate in law of a university in PNG or of a university of another country the degree in law of which is recognized by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission (JLSC) as sufficient qualification for appointment as a Principal Magistrate.
• Must have practised as a lawyer in the District and National Courts for a number of years acceptable to the JLSC and has sat as a Magistrate for a time acceptable to the JLSC.
• Must be able to provide evidence to the satisfaction of the JLSC as to their health and physical fitness; qualifications, age, good character and are prepared to make the Judicial Declaration.
