The Growers Association is seeking a talented individual to appoint as Executive Director.

The Growers Association is a National body based in Kokopo, East New Britain Province. It is an association of farmers with small to large land holdings in the agriculture sector. Their mission is to effectively promote a healthy and sustainable rural industry ensuring market accessibility for production and goods and services reach isolated areas. They seek a dynamic and broadly experienced executive to fill the vacancy.

Reporting to the Chairman of the Board the appointee will

• Provide corporate guidance and leadership to the Association. Formulate and implement policies and programs that promote and attain tangible outcomes beneficial to members
• Make representations to government to take cognizance of members’ views and aspirations in public policy and legislation
• Promote dialogue and lobby Provincial Governments to prioritize agricultural investment potentially benefitting 80% of people
• Represent the association at national and international consultative forums and Commodity Board

Job requirements

• Must have proven involvement with agricultural communities with a burning passion to improve the livelihoods of the majority of Papua New Guineans who toil the land daily
• Be articulate in written and verbal English and pidgin and possess communication and negotiation skills and be result driven
• Have basic understanding of the governmental structure, functions of ministries, national developmental plans and strategies
• Must have a minimum work experience of 5 years, 3 of these at executive level
