Buk bilong Pikinini is looking for a proactive person with strong financial management credentials to lead and manage our team based in Port Moresby and throughout other centres in Papua New Guinea.
Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) is a not-for-profit organisation, founded in 2007, with the focus of fostering a life-long love of learning, increase literacy rates and empowering vulnerable children through the establishment of children’s libraries and delivery of literacy programs in the target communities across PNG.
We are looking for a proactive person with strong financial management credentials to lead and manage our team based in Port Moresby and throughout other centres in PNG.
Executive Officer
The Executive Officer (EO) will lead a passionate team in managing all aspects of Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) financial and administrative operations. The EO will ensure BbP has systems and procedures in place to support effective education program implementation and provide strong internal controls. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the EO will steer the organization towards achieving its objective. A key outcome of the role will be to develop and manage funding opportunities through grants and corporate donor support to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization’s children’s libraries and literacy programs.
Key roles & responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance and oversee all of BbP’s financial and administrative operations
- Develop and document business process and accounting policies, processes and systems to maintain and strengthen quality internal controls
- Prepare budgets and financial reports for BbP Board and the donors / sponsors
- Provide effective management and strategic direction of BbP’s education
Professional qualifications & experiences
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field
- CPA qualification is desirable
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in Finance & Business Management preferably in NGO environment
Skills & competencies
- Excellent administrations kills
- Strong people management skills; ability to manage team members and work collaboratively across the organisation
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Proficient in MYOB
- Ability to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels–including non-finance employees
