The Anitua Group of Companies has successfully served PNG mining and resources companies and local communities for 30 years.  Owned by traditional landowners of Lihir and governed by a representative board, the Group’s diverse range of specialised companies work towards creating long-term, sustainable value for its PNG-based shareholders.  Lihir Business Services (LBS) is wholly owned by Anitua, supported by Newcrest Mining Ltd (NML) and provides commercial, governance and compliance services to Lihirian organisations.  LBS supports its clients in building internal capability and capacity to develop and implement commercial ventures sustainable beyond the life of the Lihir gold mine.

The General Manager Lihir Business Services (GM LBS) leads LBS in implementing strategy and business plans to move towards its long-term objective of assisting Lihir’s landowners in improving economic sustainability and prosperity.  The GM LBS manages LBS in its services provision and personally provides guidance to managers of Lihirian businesses to assist them in building internal capacity and capability.  Reporting to the CEO of the Anitua Group of Companies, the GM LBS works closely with senior managers of the Anitua Group and relevant personnel within NML.

To be successful in this role you will have accounting or business qualifications and management experience gained in a small to mid-tier boutique accounting firm / business services organisation / industry peak body / Asian Development Bank or World Bank.  Deep PNG work experience and cultural understanding are required.  Bringing strong commercial acumen, you have worked with businesses in PNG or a similar economy to build management capacity.  You have experience in managing teams and business development, as well as contract negotiation and management.  Effective stakeholder management skills, emotional intelligence and the ability to develop people round out your capabilities.
