Media Niugini Limited – EMTV seeks to recruit an experienced Head of News & Current Affairs. The incumbent is required to ensure that EMTV News & Current Affairs TV & Online Platforms are seen as the leading provider of current and significant news & information to the people of Papua New Guinea. The position is based in Port Moresby, EMTV Office, Level 2 Garden City, Angau Drive, Boroko.

Main responsibilities

• Will be reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer
• Ensures the overall timely scripting and editing of news packages towards assigned news bulletins
• Ensures that all ingested news footage is correctly titled and archived for future editing
• Monitoring and overall management of news camera operators capturing quality news footage
• Monitoring and ensuring that all news editors must provide the best quality video edits and sequence is presented in all News stories

Job requirements

• Experience of playing a senior role in the management level of busy press office, ideally in a National level organisation
• BA in Communication Arts / Media / Journalism / Reporting and/or similar discipline
• Experience with creating a culture of engagement, collaboration and teamwork
• Must have extensive experience in news & current affairs online and social media management
• Over 10 years of work experience in news, preferably in the media industry;
