Head of Security Services

BSP is seeking a highly experienced and capable person to take on the role of Head of Security Services.

This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Deputy Chief Operations Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for provision of efficient management of Security Services to ensure maximum protection of Bank staff, assets and customers.

Key deliverables

  • Ensure confidential internal investigations are thoroughly conducted as well as identified risk management issues affecting the Bank, staff and customers are reported to Executive Management in a timely manner.
  • Develop security policies to ensure security management is integrated with and supports the corporate objectives of the Bank.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the staff and management of the Security Service to ensure the business unit operates a highly efficient, stable and effective security service for the Bank.
  • Provide guidance and ensure appropriate ‘field’ decisions and/or alternatives are made and/or considered on issues affecting the protection of Bank assets, staff and customers so as to act proactively to prevent crime wherever possible.
  • Develop, maintain and periodically update procedures relating to recruitment, staff training, logistics and operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare annual budget and approve expenditure within delegation for the Security Service to ensure expenditure is within approved budget. This also includes preparing and submitting proposals to the Tenders Committee for the Security Service.
  • Provide an internal investigation service as well as controlling all disciplinary action with respect to alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct, Police Force Act and relevant statutory laws of Papua New Guinea.
  • Maintain effective liaison with Government agencies, Diplomatic Corps and representatives of the Security industry on matters affecting security of the Bank.
  • Develop nominated counterparts to ensure sustainability of professional services.

Essential qualification, professional / technical skills and experiences

  • Tertiary qualification in the field of Management or Business Studies.
  • Diploma in Police or Military Studies or Cadet Officer (PNG).
  • Intermediate knowledge in BPNG Policy & Prudential Standards, Motor Traffic Act, Firearms Act, Criminal Law, National & Supreme Court.
  • Intermediate knowledge in BSP Risk Policy & Procedures Manual.
  • Intermediate HR Management skills.
  • Weapons competence with knowledge of related laws and regulations.
  • 15+ years’ active policing, military, and or security industry experience in operations and management levels
