HR Manager


The Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG – Office of the General Secretary is seeking a professional to join its team as Human Resource Division (HR Manager).

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG – Office of the General Secretary recruits’ professionals to fill key position of Human Resource Division (HR Manager).

If selected you will be:

  • Ensuring successful implementation of functions of the respective church ministries
  • Develop, managing and achieving respective work plans inclusive of budgets and monitoring
  • Prepare and write required progress reports; guide and manage staff and enhance teamwork

The position is Lae-based on three years contract. Probation of three and six month applies depending on roles. Housing is negotiable and in Ampo church compound. We encourage women and Lutherans to apply but will also consider any applications by those from PNG’s mainline churches. Of sober habits and sound Christian lifestyle is important. Character reference from own congregation or parish pastor is required.

Job requirements

  • Strong in Human Resource Management and with substantial experience for this job.
  • Able to develop and ensure compliance with simple procedures to make ELC-PNG functional.
  • Interact closely with the Finance Office / Budget Management Division / Payroll Unit to ensure efficient workflow and immediate implementation of HR measures following procedures.
  • Review current HR policies and guidelines in consultation with stakeholders and executives.
  • Advise the church executives on required updates of remuneration and related systems.
  • Ensure all employment agreements are in place and filing is complete and up-to-date.
  • Built an effective team within the HR Division; coach and use staff development initiatives.
