The Fresh Produce Development Agency is seeking to recruit a dynamic and vibrant professional for the role of Management Information Systems Content Manager.

Market for Village Farmers (MVF) is a National Government project funded by IFAD executed by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL) and implemented by the Fresh Produce Development Agency (FPDA) with the aim to improve the livelihoods of village farming households in target provinces by facilitating the transition from semi-subsistence agriculture to village farming household market-oriented production and farming as a business. The project’s development goal is to achieve sustainable and increased returns to village farming households from increased market production of fresh produce. The project’s target provinces are Western Highlands, Jiwaka, Simbu, Eastern Highlands and Morobe.

FAD Project is seeking to recruit dynamic and vibrant professionals for the following position to be based in Port Moresby
Management Information Systems Content Manager

Key accountabilities

  • Prepare and implement strategy for developing content, monitor users’ satisfaction, and regular update based on a participatory identification of priority content required by farmers and other value chain stakeholders;
  • Source and manage content applicable to MVF on the MIS including market information, technical topics, stakeholder information, including databases, weather and climate information, transport updates and MVF progress, lessons learnt, success.
  • Establish & maintain a wide range and high calibre network of MIS information sources within both the private and public sectors;
  • Develop content for inclusion in the MIS with consideration of education and literacy levels of end user groups;
  • Ensure all content is in accordance with FPDA and MVF policies and protocols and provide reports on same based on predetermined schedules determined by the PC.
  • Collaborate to the ICT-studies on the modalities for developing value chain stakeholders’ access to the MIS and reflect outcomes and FPDA/PMU decisions in MIS as appropriate;
  • Train and guide FPDA personnel on all aspects pertaining to the MIS Content Manager function so as to ensure sustainability of the MIS program beyond the life of MVF.

Job requirements

  • A higher degree in agribusiness, communications or a related discipline relevant to MVF, with sound knowledge of contemporary issues in the agricultural and food industry sectors.
  • A minimum of five years at a senior level in a relevant public institution, the private sector or an international organization, with proven skills and experience in the coordination of content for inclusion in an ICT MIS with an agricultural/agrifood focus.
  • A high degree of computer literacy is a requisite and an excellent command of verbal and written English is essential.
  • Familiar with MIS development and use within the agricultural sector, including initiatives such as the Agricultural Management Information System Standards;
  • Creative, energetic but pragmatic approach to communications development, strong problem solving ability and an appreciation of the respective roles of the public and private sectors in rural economic development;
  • The candidate must be versed and alert to crosscutting issues of gender, youth, marginalised groups, discrimination and poverty targeting.
