Manager Risk & Compliance


NCSL seeks a Manager Risk & Compliance to join its team in Port Moresby.

Based at our Head Office, Port Moresby, this position reports to the General Manager as well as the NCSL Board Audit Risk & Remuneration Committee (ARRC). The successful applicant must have minimum five (5) years’ experience in managing business risk and compliance matters and minimising risks within the business and ensuring full compliance to internal processes, statutory and regulatory laws and contractual obligations.

The successful applicant will be required to effectively

  • Manage and ensure both internal and external compliance obligations are achieved and operational risks are identified and communicated to subject matter experts,
  • Monitor and review Business Risk Analysis and effectively identify, mitigate and monitor all internal and external sources of risks,
  • Manage all operational risks (actual losses and near-miss events) and address internal compliance failures for operational efficiency,
  • Undertake risk management projects as directed by ARRC and the Management team and as required within the approved Risk Management Framework,
  • Conduct detailed analysis on the root causes of incidents and recommend mitigation strategies,
  • Monitor and draft anti-money-laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism- financing (CTF) rules and regulations so that any leakages are identified and risks-minimized,
  • Assist in managing relationships with Bank of PNG, internal and external auditors and other stakeholders towards meeting expectations and delivering expected outcomes,
  • Monitor and undertake internal risk management meetings as per scheduled and update risk register and circulate to management team in a timely manner,
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the General Manager and the Audit Risk & Remuneration Committee (ARRC).

Essential Qualifications, Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proven exposure in managing a Risk & Compliance team to identify, assess and mitigate sources of risks within a Business,
  • Demonstrated exposure in leading a Risk & Compliance Team to ensure root causes are identified in business risks and mitigation strategies initiated and implemented,
  • Possess more than five (5) years of exposure in business risk and compliance matters and reports available to stakeholders as per scheduled,
  • Degree Level Qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting or related field with some legal background.
  • Strong customer experience and ability to interact and cooperate with all staff and maintain professionalism that meets company core values,
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer focus,
  • Possess a current class three (3) or above driver’s license.
