The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced national candidates for the position of National Senior Gender and Youth Inclusion Officer.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) is the lead implementing agency for the European Union (EU) co-funded agriculture value-chain development program – Support to Rural Entrepreneurship, Investment and Trade in Papua New Guinea (STREIT PNG).

FAO is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced national candidates for the position of National Senior Gender and Youth Inclusion Officer, based in Wewak, East Sepik Province, for the STREIT PNG program.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inputs for and support the implementation of planned VC studies and related analysis to ensure its gender sensitivity and youth inclusion importance, as well as a sex and age aggregated baseline and end-line quantitative and qualitative information on women’s and youth participation at different nodes of the value chains
• Facilitate community consultations in all programme target municipalities and document gender considerations ensuring equal participation of women and youth in those communities
• Using the Gender Sensitive Value Chain Framework methodology, document Gender Based Constraints (GBC’s) inhibiting the different targeted value chains, and lead in analysing and implementing gender-equitable solutions during project interventions

Job requirements

• A least a sociology/nutrition/agriculture degree with five or more years of relevant experiences in agriculture/food sector development with special knowledge and experiences in gender sensitive value chains and industry development
• At least three (3) years of experience in the performance of the tasks described above;
• preferably experienced with UN system and projects
