The Lowy Institute Pacific Islands team is looking for a Research Fellow who will run the Aus-PNG Network, a people-to-people initiative enhancing connections between Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The Research Fellow will be responsible for delivering all elements of the Aus-PNG Network project including facilitating people-to-people connections, organising online and (when possible) physical events including the Emerging Leaders Dialogue, manage the project website, and maintain email newsletters and social media accounts on behalf of the network. They will also produce commentary on economic, development, political and social issues in Papua New Guinea, and on Australian policy in the region.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent research, written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work independently, and also able to coordinate activity as part of a small team.
- Experience in establishing or maintaining networks of contacts, members or stakeholders.
- Experience in government, development or academic sectors in Australia or Papua New Guinea.
- Have a strong familiarity with contemporary Papua New Guinea issues and opportunities.
- Have strong networks in the Australian and Papua New Guinea communities.
