The Papua New Guinea – Australia Transport Sector Support Program (TSSP) continues the Australian Government’s long-term commitment to the PNG transport infrastructure sector.

The shared long-term goal of TSSP is a safer, more reliable transport system in place enabling economic and social development in PNG.

The program now seeks applications for a Road Sector Manager to undertake a long-term position with TSSP based in Port Moresby. The RSM will oversee the delivery of the Road Sector Group work plan under the high-level strategic direction of the Team Leader and in consultation with the Department of Works (DoW). The position will lead TSSP’s support to the road sector reforms within DoW providing leadership and management of the team to ensure that work planning and prioritisation is undertaken and that there is proactive engagement with all TSSP staff and DoW counterparts.

Job Requirements:

Specific Skill Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or a closely related discipline and extensive experience in planning, managing and advising on road infrastructure maintenance
• Demonstrated experience in civil engineering service delivery and management of programs/projects
• Experience in strategic planning and policy development for the road transport sector and demonstrated experience in supervising and guiding the activities of work teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of groups
