The Porgera Joint Venture now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced Growth and Strategy Underground Specialist.

The Specialist – Growth & Strategy is responsible for assisting the Underground Mining Department to improve systems and processes, build reporting tools to provide transparency to track high value business initiatives and support operations to deliver the plan.

The ideal candidate will preferably have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related discipline
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role is advantageous
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in strategic planning processes and methodology and in leading and directing management in these
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to communicate and establish rapport with management, staff at all levels and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in managing high value strategic projects
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent
  • Proven experience in financial management and analysis
  • Able to assess operating systems and relationships between areas of work
  • Provides policy leadership and direction
  • Judges the impact of changes or events internal and external to the area
  • Provides clear and supportive leadership to team
  • Manages interacting projects

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Alternate Underground Manager – Growth & Strategy and provide monthly reporting on status of Projects, including progress against KPIs
  • Manage and coordinate other projects and manage business improvement initiatives as required by the Alternate Underground Manager – Growth & Strategy.
  • Manage the Mining Top 10 Project Portfolio
  • Champion elements of the LOM Strategic Plan as required i.e. STRIVE
  • Lead individual projects as required
  • Provide training for the iPro & Capital Expenditure process to Mining department users
  • Develop and prepare appropriate business performance reports as required
  • Work with mining team to ensure continued alignment of operations, geology and mining engineering programs and strategies, and propose appropriate growth initiatives
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment of initiatives and objectives
  • Assist with the identification and development of High potential national employees
  • Upskill National Workforce in the management of areas such as projects, cost, procurement, contractors
  • Maintain an approach of identifying inefficiencies and identifying systematic and sustainable solutions
  • Work collaboratively with operational managers to forecast future trends and select appropriate action planning to enhance site operational performance
  • Continually strive for and pursue new methods and practices for improving the efficiency of the mine and supporting operations by monitoring, researching and where appropriate, introducing procedural and equipment developments
  • Provide oversight to Departments to ensure approved capital projects and expenditure is implemented according to schedules and budgets following appropriate document control.
  • Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.
