People moves: Lae Chamber of Commerce, Oil Search, Nautilus Minerals, Insurance Commission

New Executive voted in at Lae Chamber of Commerce, new Directors at Oil Search and Nautilus Minerals, confirmation of Insurance Commissioner

The Lae Chamber of Commerce has elected John Byrne as its new President, replacing Alan McLay, who died in January. Other office holders are: Nigel Merrick (Senior Vice President); Robert Howden (Junior Vice President); Jane Kenni (Treasurer); Phil Franklin (Immediate Past President).

Councillors are: Scott Boughey (ANZ Bank), Gavin Whyte (Tyres 4U), Nellie McLay (MBC Consultancy), Wayne Uechtritz (Capex Solutions), Samadhi Lewis (Hornibrook NGI), Danny Kepi (Regional Engineering), Stephen Beach (Pricewaterhousecoopers), Roy Beerwald (Ramu Agri Industries), Belinda Edwards (Lae Travellers Inn/Kange), John Bellinger (Guard Dog Security Services), Namon Mawason (Morobe Coast Shipping Services).

Oil Search has appointed Susan Cunningham and Dr Bakheet Al Katheeri as Non-executive Directors of the Company. They fill the vacancies created by the resignations of Gerea Aopi and Keith Spence.

Nautilus Minerals has appointed Jay Layman as an Independent Director. Layman is currently President, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Seabridge Gold, a TSX listed pre-development gold company. Most recently, he was Vice President Solutions and Innovation for Newmont Mining Company.

The National Executive Council has confirmed Raho Samuel as the new Commissioner of the Office of Insurance.  He has been acting in the position since March, 2017.
