PNG’s most-read magazine — Paradise January/February 2019 opens the new year

Welcome,

The surfing season is in full swing in Papua New Guinea, which has its best wave conditions between November and April.

Paradise goes along for the ride in this issue, with a bumper surfing guide to PNG, as well as other surfing hot spots in the Pacific, including the Solomon Islands and Micronesia.

Our guide not only reveals where to find the waves, but it lists some of the great places for surfers to stay, from a live-aboard boat to overwater bungalows with hammocks and a jungle backdrop.

Some of the surfing spots, like Fiji’s Cloudbreak, are well known, but others are so out of the way that you’re likely to be one of few people in the line up.

The adventure theme continues in this issue, with our writers also tackling the gruelling 96-kilometre Kokoda Trail and swimming with sharks at a dive site called ‘The Bistro’ in Fiji.

“There must be over 60 sharks and the action is intense,” our writer/diver, Deborah Dickson-Smith, says in between gulps of air.

Paradise’s annual almanac – with the best events in PNG and the Asia-Pacific region – is another feature in this issue, along with stories on PNG culture, fashion and wellness.

Story continues after advertisment...

In the business world, we profile six young Papua New Guinean digital creators who are at the forefront of the digital push in the country.

We’re always on the look out for more local contributors. If you have a great photo that may be suitable for our ‘Big Picture’ page, or if you want to write a short story for the “My PNG” column, email us at paradise@businessadvantageinternational.com and we’ll get back to you with all the details.

Happy flying and reading.
