Chief Executive Officer


The Western Provincial Health Authority is inviting applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer.

The Western Province has established the Western Provincial Health Authority (WPHA) and is implementing the Provincial Health Authorities Act 2007.

The WPHA is seeking applications from exceptional candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer.

This is a critical leadership role in the delivery of quality health services to the people of Western Province and is based in Dam.

The WPHA has embraced significant reform of health service delivery systems and therefore requires a highly competent, professional person from the Health Services sector, with significant demonstrated skills covering Leadership, Change Management, Negotiations and Communications, who can perform decisively and effectively at the highest level.

Job requirements

  • Master of Public Health (MPH), Masters of Business Administration (MBA); Masters of Public Administration (MPA), or Masters of Public Policy (MPP) or other health qualification is preferred
  • Professional affiliation to a recognised body
  • Knowledge of the Provincial Health Authorities Act 2007, National Health Administration Act 1997, Organic Law on Provincial & Local-level Governments 1995, Public Services Management Act 1995 and its General Orders, the Public Finances (Management) Act 1995, the Audit Act 1989 and other relevant government legislation

Experience & skills

  • Minimum 6 years demonstrated management and leadership experience in public or commercial institution at a senior level
  • Understanding of good governance, and laws and regulations governing statutory authorities
