Membership of international organisations
PNG is a member of the 21-country Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and hosted the annual APEC economic leaders’ meeting in Port Moresby in 2018. It is scheduled to host the event again in 2033.
Other key memberships include the United Nations, UNESCO, the World Trade Organization, the ASEAN Regional Forum, the Pacific Islands Forum, the Melanesian Spearhead Group and the South Pacific Regional Environmental Program.
