Handing over a K5,000 cheque in Port Moresby yesterday to 2025 Female Innovator Award winner to Penelope Aisi, a programme manager at BSP, Moni Plus company secretary Barbrah Samuga-Paita said the award was for outstanding contributions to the banking and digital transformation sectors.

“At the Innovation Awards Night held at The Stanley Hotel and Suites on March 27, we were thrilled to present the 2025 female innovator award to Penelope Aisi, programme manager at BSP,” Samuga-Paita said.

“This award, sponsored by Moni Plus, recognised her outstanding contributions to the banking and digital transformation sectors.”

With over a decade of experience in the banking industry, Aisi has built an impressive career, progressing from support officer to programme manager.

She specialises in digital banking, project management, and large-scale mobile financial services projects.

Aisi was behind BSP’s Wantok Wallet, a pioneering platform that has greatly enhanced the accessibility and impact of financial services for users.

Samuga-Paita said another 2025 female innovator recipient was Alurnita Chan who led “the successful project to achieve a high-level EDGE environment certification for Steamships corporate headquarters in Port Moresby”.

“While she is currently in Sydney for her studies, we celebrate her outstanding achievements in innovation and leadership,” Samuga-Paita said.

“The Moni Plus female innovator award is part of our giving back to the society under corporate social responsibility programme.”

Aisi said she was grateful for the recognition.

“For me, this recognition is also a celebration of Wantok Wallet – a solution built with heart, purpose, and simplicity,” she said.
