People moves: Asian Development Bank, UPNG, Chinese Embassy, PNG High Commissioner to UK


A new Country Director for the Asian Development Bank, Vice-Chancellor of UPNG steps down, the new Chinese Ambassador presents his credentials, and PNG’s UK High Commissioner takes on a key EU role.

The Asian Development Bank has appointed David Hill as the new Country Director of the Papua New Guinea resident mission in Port Moresby.


Professor Albert Mellam has resigned as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Papua New Guinea, after four years in the position. Vincent Malaibe, the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Development, will act as vice-Chancellor until a permanent appointment is made.

The new Chinese Ambassador to PNG, Bing Xue, has presented his credentials to Governor-General, Bob Dadae.


The High Commissioner of Papua New Guinea to the United Kingdom, Winnie Kiap, has become the new Chair of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Board of Governors.
