People 02Changes at Bemobile

The Chairman of Papua New Guinea’s second-largest mobile phone carrier, Vodafone Bemobile, Syd Yates, is stepping down, following a company restructuring, which sees Vodafone Fiji taking over the day-to-day running of Bemobile. Andrew Johnson will replace him as Chairman.

Pradeep Lal, formerly Vodafone Fiji’s chief finance officer and chief operating officer, becomes the new regional Chief Executive Officer. He will replace acting CEO Michael Ah Koy in PNG.

Mulacek to leave InterOil

Phil Mulacek, founder and Chief Executive Officer of InterOil Corporation—the company planning PNG’s second LNG project—has resigned, effective 30 April 2013. He will continue as an InterOil director and will provide advisory services to the company. InterOil Chairman Dr Gaylen Byker will assume Mulacek’s duties on an interim basis from 1 May 2013 until a replacement is appointed.

Matheson to leave Westpac PNG

Ashleigh Matheson will leave his position as Managing Director of Westpac Bank PNG Ltd in August 2013, but will remain on the company’s board.

Biggs joins Cue

Cue Energy Resources Ltd, which has an interest in several oil and gas licences in PNG’s Highlands, has announced the appointment of David Biggs as Chief Executive Officer.
