The international energy services company, Wood Group PSN, has won a contract with Esso Highlands to provide construction and maintenance to services to the Hides gas plant in Papua New Guinea’s Highlands and the new PNG LNG plant near Port Moresby.
Wood Group PSN is the largest single division of London Stock Exchange-listed Wood Group. It employs over 30,000 people in more than 35 countries, providing support services to energy companies.
A company spokeswoman told Business Advantage PNG that while it was too early to say how many locals would be employed, the company was committed to working safely towards nationalisation.
For example, she said in Chad 93% of the company’s workforce were African nationals, and ‘developing skills in-country will be a key area of focus for us’.
