New Britain Palm Oil Limited is looking to appoint a new Manager – Technical Services Division.
New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) is a large scale integrated, and leading industrial producer of sustainable palm oil in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. The NBPOL Group has over 76,000 hectares of planted oil palm plantations, a further 10,000 hectares under preparation for oil palm, over 5,500 hectares of sugar cane and a further 9,000 hectares of grazing pasture, twelve oil mills, two refineries (one in PNG, and one in Liverpool, UK), as well as a seed production and plant breeding facility. Fully RSPO accredited, NBPOL is fully vertically integrated, producing its own seed (which it also sells globally) and planting, cultivating and harvesting its own land and processing and refining palm oil, in both PNG and the UK. It also contracts directly with its end-customers in the EU and arranges shipping of its products.
NBPOL are looking for qualified talents to join them in their West New Britain Office for the following position: Manager – Technical Services Division (TSD)
Job description
The primary role of TSD is to maintain agronomic and spatial databases through data collection, processing and analysis and provide timely reporting and recommendations to plantation managers and senior management. In addition, TSD performs a minor research function in assessing and future technologies to improve plantation operations and agronomic data.
Job requirements
- Bachelor Degree or higher in fields related to agriculture, forestry, GIS, Remote Sensing, Data Management, or similar relevant fields
- 7-10 years of related work experience in the fields of agricultural management or agricultural research or closely related fields that can be applied to agronomy and precision agriculture
- Experience with managing large and complex datasets, including spatial data management and GIS
- Report writing and presentation skills are essential
- Excellent skills in MS Excel are essential.
- Experience of managing a team of varied skills in different locations is preferred
- Database (MS Access and SQL) skills are of benefit
